Free Laptops Scheme 2012 Launched for KPK Students

Peshawar, The KPK government is going to launch the laptop scheme for the brilliant and talented students of the province in recognition of their abilities and talents which they showed during the academic year. This has been decided in a meeting which was held in the Chief Minister Secretariat and this meeting was presided over by the Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti.

According to the sources, giving influence from the Punjab government for award of laptops to the talented and brilliant students, KPK government decided to launch a ‘Naway Sahar Scheme’ under which about 25,000 talented and intelligent and position holder students of the province will be awarded with laptops during last week of December. The KPK government has reserved about 1 billion rupees for the subject scheme.

The scheme was started with its first session for award of laptops to the students for BS 4 years program and medical and engineering students of the province. The quota of 2% has been fixed for the disabled students of medical and engineering disciplines. The government official has also made it clear that a laptop has the price of Rs.40,000 for which 1 billion rupees has been reserved and if the cost of the laptop in decreased then it is hoped that more laptops will be bought for more students. The students who are getting education in master programs will not be allowed for this scheme.

Issue of Scholarship Schedule by Karachi University

For the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, submission of application can be done upto 1st Dec, as announced on Thursday, by the Karachi University, in Karachi.

A seminar on how to submit an online application form for the EMEA scholarship was organized to help the students and the staff to avail the fully funded scholarship to Europe, the Erasmus Mundus Europe Asia (EMEA), as according to the statement of the University, by the Karachi University EMEA Pakistan coordination team.

Mariya Khan, the Assistant Coordinator of EMEA explained in detail that candidates had to select the Target Group, Mobility Group, Academic fields of studies and code of EU, for starting an online application.

Exhibition of Landscapes till Dec 10 at PU

Under the title of “Landscapes, Cityscapes and related Conceptual Paintings,” an exhibition is organized by Punjab University College of Art and Design in collaboration with the Lahore Museum, at the Contemporary Painting Gallery of the Lahore Museum, in Lahore.

This show till 10th of December will remain open.

The teachers and graduates of the PUCAD are honored in this exhibition, for playing a very important role in the creation of the tradition of the modern Pakistani landscape paintings. Many artworks have been on the display of many artists, at this occasion. These artists include Ustad Allah Bakhsh, Muhammad Hussain Hanjra, Khalid Iqbal, Zulqarnain Haider, Mughees riaz, Kaleem Khan, Ghulam Rasul, Shahid Jalal, Mian Ejaz ul Hasan, Anna Molka Ahmad, Naseem Hafeez Qazi, Ghulam Mustafa, Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, Dr. Ajaz Anwar, Abd al-Rehman Chughtai, Moyene Najmi, Musarrat Mirza, Zubeda Javed, Khalid Mahmud, Musarrat Hassan, Iqbal Hussain, Rahat Naveed Masud, Kehkashan Jafri, Maliha Azami Aga, Quddus Mirza, Durre Waseem, Naela Amir, Munawar Mohiudin, Amjad Naeem, Mirza Matloob Baig, Iqbal Khokhar, Muhammad Arshad and Anila Zulfiqar.

At the exhibition, the inauguration was done by Prof. Dr. Rahat Naveed Masud, the Principal of PUCAD and Dr. Barabara Schmitz. Under the title as “Landscapes, Cityscapes and other Conceptual Paintings,” a book has been launched at the occasion, which includes 74 images of painting in high quality and 33 detailed articles which are based on researches, about all the artists and their work.

Distribution of 1000 School bags among Needy Students by Mobilink Foundation

To the underprivileged students, 1000 school bags were distributed by Mobilink, in Karachi, in corresponding to continuing celebrations of Universal Children’s Day, to the cities of Lahore and Karachi.

Under the umbrella of Mobilink Foundation, this initiation was taken, in order to extend support to the students who due to financial reasons or social exclusion, are deprived of formal schooling opportunities. In the Mobilink, the Torchbearers consist of employees of Mobilink, who in order to hand over school bags to students of Karachi, at the DSRA Education Trust and in Lahore at the Green Land School.

Omar Manzur, the Head of Corporate Communications, Mobilink said in the occasion that for both the children of Pakistan and environment we live in, and to the commitment of Mobilink Foundation, this initiative is a proof.

Mobilink, since 2007, has undertaken the part of donating school bags, of this unique initiative. Recycled panaflex sheets are used to make these school bags for the children, which were taken from advertising billboards of Mobilink and other donating companies, who want to tailor school bags for the children.

Urdu Subject for Science Students got eliminated by HEC

From the list of compulsory subjects for students of science, Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Karachi, removed the national language, before this from the list of compulsory subjects for the students of pharmacy and commerce faculties, Urdu was removed.

From the list of compulsory subjects, the HEC has removed the national language for the students of science faculty, this was told by a person who wished not to mention his name, but is an official of HEC. Uploading of the approved syllabus for the students of science faculty has been done by HEC, in which in the list of compulsory subjects, as told by the official, Urdu was not included, which for graduates was taken as compulsory before.

In the list of compulsory subjects by HEC, some more English subjects were added by removing Urdu from the list, as according to the official.

Urdu was removed, before this, from the list of compulsory subjects for the students of pharmacy and commerce faculties by HEC, who claimed that Urdu, for the students of pharmacy and commerce graduates, does not matter, as further added by the official.

Exams of Semester System in Sindh University from Nov 28

From November 28, the 2nd semester regular/improver/failure examination 2012, in all the disciplines at institutes and department, is going to be organized, as announced by Muhammad Ali Roshna Pathan, the Sindh University Controller of Examination (Semester), in Karachi.

Till November 27, as according to schedule issued, admit cards would be issued, whereas on November 28, 2012, the commencement of the examination will take place.

In the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, the annual examination 2011 result of B.Ed. (off campus) has been declared by the Controller of Examination, Dr Naeem Tariq Narejo.

In the examination, as according to the declared result, a total number of 2391 appeared, among which in first class 265 candidates declared passed, while in second class 1489 candidates declared passed and in the third class only small number of seven candidates declared passed.

In the examination, candidates remained absent is as many as 08, while students declared fail are 392 and withheld of the result of 230 candidates took place due to various reasons.

Admissions have started from Nov 28 by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University

Admissions have been started by the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Shaheed Benazirabad, in Nawabshah, in the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Diploma in Physical Education (D.P.E), Master of Education (M.Ed.), Diploma in Arts and Drawing (D.A.D).

For B.Ed. (One year) evening program, the criteria of Eligibility is that atleast 45% marks in B.A/B.Com/B.Sc are required from the candidate (s).

In B.Ed. atleast 45% marks have been required for M.Ed. (one year) evening program, by the candidate (s).

Intermediate with atleast 45% marks, for the D.P.E and D.A.D (one year) evening program must have by the candidate (s).

On the payment of Rs.1000/-, admission forms along with the prospectus, from 28th November 2012, from Habib Bank Limited, Masjid Road Branch, and Nawabshah, can be obtained. Submission of forms can be done till the last date of December 14, 2012.

Campuses of AIOU in Sindh Being Established

The campuses are going to be established in the Province of Sindh, of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), in Khudabad and Mithi, in Islamabad.

The Sindh Minister of Education and Literacy, Pir Mazharul Haq, made this announcement along with the AIOU officials. President Asif Ali Zardari had given these directions, as according to Pir Mazharul Haq for the promotion of modern education in the far flung areas of the Province.

In Shikarpur and other districts, as according to the minister, such campuses would be set up. It was pointed out by the Sindh minister, that Sindh was ignored in the realms of higher education, during the dictatorial regime.

Admissions 2013 Declares at Shah Abdul Latif University

Khairpur, Shah Abdul Latif University is going to start admission process for the students in the disciplines of BA and LLB Part I (five year program) evening for the academic year 2013. The process of the examination will start from November 20, 2012.

The University administration has declared that the students who seek admission in the University should contact with Habib Bank Limited University branch for obtaining admission forms on cash payment of Rs.1000 and submit the admission forms after completing them fully along with admission fee on or before December 20, 2012. The University will conduct pre-entry test from the eligible students on January 05, 2013 and the students who succeed in the test will be granted admission in the concerned disciplines of the University.

Over 25,000 Students of KPK Receive Laptops in December

Peshawar, the KPK government has announced that their government has made plan for the award of laptops to the students who get distinction in their studies and exams. Initially 25,000 students will be awarded with laptop during the last week of December

The program of awarding of laptop to the students will be started from the students of 4 years Bachelor of Studies and all the students belong to medical and engineering faculties. These laptops will encourage the remaining students to work hard and get good marks and in this government will appreciate their hard working. According to the policy, in the coming years laptops will be awarded to the top 10 students of government schools in the higher secondary schools exams conducted by all educational boards of the province. Two percent quota for the disabled candidates has also been reserved for the students to appreciate them.
