GCU Student Awards Rhodes Scholarship 2013

Lahore, the student of Government College University Lahore has won the Rhodes Scholarship 2013 for studying in Oxford University. According to the details, Mr. Raffi Ullah Kakar, who belongs to the less privileged province, Balochistan is the winner of this well esteemed scholarship being presented by the Oxford University every year.

Mr. Rafi Ullah Kakar is the student of Political Department in GC University who won this prestigious scholarship which is the international pride for him and for Pakistan. Addressing to the gathering which was being arranged in his honour, Mr. Rafi Ullah said that it is the great achievement for him and his family. He said that he belong to a less developed area of Balochistan where educational facilities are equal to none. His completed his early education from his native town, shifted to Lahore for further education.

He said that he thought that the educational life in Lahore will be very tough but he soon realized that it was the suitable place for getting further action and to do something in his life. On the award of this scholarship, he thanked God and pledged it the blessing of Allah and the result of the prayers of his old parents who appreciated him to get further education instead of intense financial hazards.

The Rhodes scholarships are awarded to the students of various countries of the world including Canada, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Pakistan, United States, India, Jamaica, Bermuda, Kenya, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Zambia, South Africa, Malawi, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Every year, 83 scholars are selected for the study in the Oxford University. This scholarship is given to the students who worked for the peace and humanity in the society.
